Routine and Restorative Dentistry

Attractive, natural-looking teeth help us to look and feel our best.

They give us the confidence day by day, in all activities from being at work to meeting our friends in the evening.

For many, the loss of a single tooth can have an extensive impact on their everyday lifestyle.

At One The Gallery, we provide all aspects of restorative dental care; from routine dental health examinations and fillings to more complex full mouth rehabilitations. Our aim is to preserve and enhance your oral health and maintain healthy teeth and gums, through prevention and maintenance.

Using only the latest materials and dental technology, we aim to ensure that your dental treatment is carried out to the highest possible standard, with longevity and predictability in mind.

Preventative Care, Fillings and Restorations

What is preventative care?

Today, the most common dental diseases are completely preventable. At One The Gallery, our team will help you achieve ideal oral health by developing an individual daily regime of home care that will look after your teeth, gums and general oral health.

With regular dental check-ups, your dentist will ensure that your mouth is maintained in a stable and healthy condition. Detailed dental examinations can highlight the first signs of tooth decay or gum disease long before conventional drilling and filling is required. Then, often simple adjustments to the diet and cleaning technique are all that is required to tip the balance back in favour of continuing oral health.

If you have a tooth that has become damaged through decay it can usually be repaired with a filling, inlay or crown. The repairs are made to fit perfectly and they will be easy to maintain during your daily cleaning routine.

Our simple advice to all patients is, clean your teeth effectively every day and manage your diet to use sugar sensibly.

The whole team of Specialists, Dentists, Hygienists, and Assistants at One The Gallery are totally committed to helping our patients work towards keeping teeth healthy.

Individually tailored oral health advice to suit your lifestyle can help you develop a healthy dental care regime with the ultimate goal of healthy teeth for life.

What are Fillings and Restorations?

At One The Gallery, our aim is to help you to adopt a healthy “preventative” approach to your dental care with a good brushing technique. Many of the children we treat will, through good dental hygiene, avoid cavities and grow into mature adults without having any fillings. We will also advise you on the use of fissure sealants which help prevent tooth decay and the need for fillings.

There are many different types of dental filling. At One The Gallery we will discuss with you the best type of repair for your tooth and will offer you a tooth-coloured repair whenever possible.

Tooth coloured filling materials can be used to place aesthetic repairs in teeth and rebuild chipped corners invisibly.

Many super aesthetic fillings, inlays and crowns are now available and we can maintain a natural appearance to your teeth even if you do need a lot of fillings and repairs. Replacing old fillings with new aesthetic repairs can dramatically enhance an unsightly set of heavily repaired teeth.

We continually review our filling treatments making sure that we offer you the most appropriate treatment.

What is Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening treatments are designed to improve the colour of your natural teeth without having to resort to invasive dentistry such as fillings, veneers or crowns. The process is entirely safe and the colour change long-lasting.

If your teeth are undamaged and healthy the treatment can simply make them look significantly brighter.

If however, your teeth are discoloured, heavily filled, crowned or veneered the treatment can be used in conjunction with other restorative treatments to achieve the best possible improvement in your smile.

What are the side effects of Tooth Whitening?

Some people experience increased tooth sensitivity to cold after treatment. Symptoms usually disappear within 1-3 days after stopping or completion of treatment.

Tooth whitening gel only works on natural teeth and not on any dental restorations. This needs to be considered when planning for tooth whitening, as restorations may then appear more conspicuous and need to be replaced.

How does Tooth Whitening work?

At One The Gallery we provide you with custom made tooth whitening trays for both the upper and lower teeth. These are soft plastic “mini mouth guards” specially designed to hold the tooth whitening gel in the right place over your front and back teeth. They are strategically designed to make it easy for you to treat your upper and lower teeth at the same time.

Hygiene and Therapy Treatments

What is Dental Hygiene?

Dental Hygienists are uniquely qualified to assist in the prevention and treatment of oral disease. Your hygienist will look after the health of your teeth and gums. They will discuss with you oral hygiene practices that will help you develop a good home care plan to keep your teeth healthy throughout your life.

Our hygienists are very experienced in managing treatment of patients suffering from gum disease, working in close collaboration with our dentists.

They also support patients who have had implant treatment and require maintenance visits to ensure that the gums and bone remain healthy around the restorations and dental implants.

Our dental hygienists will be happy to provide specific advice on:

  • Oral disease and prevention of gum disease
  • Nutrition
  • Use of fluoride, anti-bacterials and new dental care materials
  • Tooth whitening
  • Smoking cessation

Our dentists work very closely with our team of hygienists to ensure you are able to look after and maintain your teeth, gums and any dental work. Where necessary we can refer you to the hygienist and appointments can be offered between your routine dental care.
